I am a tenured university professor of (oral) rhetoric and persuasion in the Department of Communication Studies, College of Media and Communication, at Texas Tech University. I like what I do. I am an anomaly because I am a politically and theologically conservative person who teaches and researches in the humanities--you cannot get much weirder than that. I am also a husband to Dana (Hammock) Gring and we are parents to (now) four young adults: Corinne (and her husband John Paul), Evan, Nathan, and Dodie. Our progeny are flawed, enjoyable, funny, sarcastic, talented, and complex people who bless us because they love God and love us.
